Saudi Arabia: Gratitude To The Ministry Of Industry & Mineral Resources
I am grateful to the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mining Sector, for receiving our Senior Regional Exploration Manager on Monday, the 18th November, 2024, in Riyadh. Ahmed Alaqeel, General Manager, welcomed him, in the company of the representative of the Mining Development Deputyship, the Exploration Development Manager and the Minerals Department Manager. The meeting shows how serious #Saudi #Arabia, with an estimated #mineral resource potential of $2.5 trillion, is about attracting private investors, in spite of the wealth its government. Over the years, I have dealt with national investment offices and officials from #Cape to #Cairo and in the #Middle #East; by any standard, the Saudi reception on the 16th was outstanding in its organization, efficiency, transparency, and welcome. There is a lesson from it for #countries where trying to set up an appointment, get accurate investment information and receive guidance from an office is like trying to ride a wild horse in a rodeo. Saudi Arabia aims to boost its #non-oil GDP and exports and has already started to doing so, with the mining sector central to that policy. The country is in a unique position to do so through effective sustainability strategies for the benefit of its citizens, foreign investors and global efforts against #climate #change.
