21ST CENTURY AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES: FACING THE CHALLENGES WITH INNOVATIVE APPROACHES

Our latest book, “21st Century African Development Strategies: Facing the Challenges With Innovative Approaches,” launched at the UN Science Summit, during the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, New York, in September 2025, is now available at: https://lnkd.in/eV8Gd_EM. Publisher: Palgrave Macmillan 2025.

In his foreword, Dr. Sidi O. Tah, former President and CEO of BADEA and now President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) wrote: “It is not easy to find a book that is both academic and policy-oriented, theoretical and practical, secondary and first-hand, contemporary and historical, multidisciplinary and technical, but the authours of this book have succeeded in providing one through this publication“.

In his endorsement, Dr. Ha-Joon Chang, best-selling former Cambridge University Scholar, now Professor at SOAS University of London, author of “Edible Economics”, wrote: “This is a unique book, combining impressive ‘big picture’ reflections on ethics, history, and political economy with fine-grained analyses of individual sectors, including education, innovation, and Islamic finance“.

Our CEO is very grateful to all those who have endorsed the book or supported his 2 co-authors and himself in other ways. This is a study of Africa’s challenges from pre-colonialism to today. For those not fond of very long and complicated analysis of Africa’s numerous challenges and are seeking a succinct documentation of these, they may refer to only Chapter 1 of the book: “Whither Africa? An Introduction to Africa’s Challenges and This Book“. For those who love equations & numbers, Distinguished Prof. Khan (leading mathematical economist & global thinker)’s contributions should be interesting. In short, this book attempts, through a multidisciplinary technical and non-technical approach, to cater for all – the common, scholarly and policy-making reader. We do hope that anyone who reads it finds some benefit from it, even a drop of additional knowledge about Africa. The book is a study of our beloved continent, frankly narrated from three generations of academic and practical experience, with some innovative new concepts and approaches.

It is dedicated to the hardworking people of Africa, especially those who are protecting the sanctity of the family, catering for the poor and vulnerable, and educating, feeding and healing our people! In it we plead with our African brothers and sisters for peace: “WHEN AFRICANS “FIGHT” (SYMBOLICALLY) OR FIGHT (LITERALLY) EACH OTHER, EVERYONE MUST BE SEEN AS A LOSER! NO ONE MUST CELEBRATE AND ENCOURAGE THEM, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY! AS THE COMMON SENSE COMMON PHRASE GOES: UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL!” This is what we refer to in the book as our “Clarion call for 21st Century Africa”!
