STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT SUSTAINABILITY FRAMEWORK FOR AUSTRALIA’S 3RD BIGGEST GOLD PRODUCER

A sudden but welcome invitation today from Matt Cavedon, the newly appointed GM of Perseus Mining’s Nyazanga Gold Project (NGP) in Tanzania. Mr Cavedon, a multi-skilled mining, systems and mechanical engineer and former football captain, brought together his senior management team from all depts., almost 2.5 times more than the number of expected attendants I had given him. Furthermore, all those who made comments on my African woman-inspired “Strategic Management Sustainability Framework (SMSF) (AKA African PESTLE Analysis (APA)” were Tanzanians, 3/4 from Nyazanga. The SMSF/APA is an innovative approach to dealing with organizational challenges anywhere, especially in complex operational environments. It has been presented to audiences in different parts of the world. Every presentation has been followed by the highest evaluations. The last before today’s was to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority on July 23, 2024. The Framework is being developed into a computerized tool/app.
The NGP is located approximately 60 kilometres southwest of Mwanza (2nd largest Tanzanian city). The combined M&I Mineral Resource for the NGP is estimated at 74.2 Mt grading 1.33 g/t Au, containing 3.2 Moz of gold. A further 15.0 Mt of material grading 1.2 g/t Au, containing 584 koz of gold are classified as Inferred Mineral Resources. A 2nd phase of resource definition drilling is currently underway at NGP with the aim of converting Inferred Mineral Resources into Indicated Mineral Resources, which would potentially enable the Ore Reserve to be materially expanded and the life of the NGP operation extended during the 2nd phase. Total projected employment is about 3,000 jobs. The management is working closely with the Tanzanian government and the communities. Interestingly, the Community Relations Manager’s name, when translated into English, means “Crossing Barriers”, just what any company needs for sustainability, especially community engagement. At the end of the discussions, Mr Cavedon asked him and everyone else to put on their speakers and say “Thanks and Good-Bye!” to me. They all did this, very loud and clear, as I assured them of my intent to visit them one day. This reminded me of an outstanding invitation from the Tanzanian Ministry of Minerals, after our presentation to them on July 22nd, 2024, at the invitation of Hon. Anthony Peter Mavunde, Minister
On July 30, the Exploration Dept. of Perseus did what may be called: “African Economic Empowerment through Capacity Building”. They freely shared technical expertise with our team at Sahara Gold on how and where to look to advance our project into a successful African initiative. Sahara is owned 95% by Africans.
