Jula Consultancy FZE is an international business and development consultancy, which advises and assists businesses, governments and others in Africa, the Middle East and other parts of the world. Jula Consultancy FZE has expertise in mining, real estate, Islamic finance, environmental, social and governance (ESG), and strategic management, in particular, and has a very wide international network.

Located in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, the Consultancy is based on an extensive network of associates spanning four continents, with Africa at the heart of its activities. In addition to the very long and global experience of its founder and CEO, Dr. Karamo N.M. Sonko, Jula’s strength is derived from a diversity of knowledgeable professionals from Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe who serve as expert advisers.

The advisers include professors from universities, former Ministers, prominent entrepreneurs and business executives as well as experienced hands-on individuals with expertise in development, government, and in business activities such as finance, mining, ICT, power and energy, logistics, marketing, real estate, travel and tourism.

Dr. Karamo Sonko
President and CEO

Karamo NM Sonko is a world citizen and a multidisciplinary social scientist, with more than 30 years of experience in teaching, research,

economic empowerment and social inclusion, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), environmental oversight, government relations, corporate governance and Islamic finance. He is Chairman, Heeno International; CEO, Jula Consultancy FZE; Chairman, Taf Africa Global; Strategic Adviser to the Managing Director & CEO, Perseus Mining; and Chairman, WellBoring (West Africa). He has worked at the African Union (AU), United Nations (UN) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and taught at five universities in Canada, France and the USA. Dr Sonko has a PhD (with Distinction) from the Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver, CO., M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge (England), and B.A. (First Class) from the University of Swaziland.
Lamin Sanneh
Special Assistant to the CEO

Lamin Sanneh is Special Assistant to the CEO of Jula. He is also Human Resources and Logistics Manager of Heeno International

and Company Secretary of WellBoring West Africa, the West African division of the British foundation, WellBoring. Under his leadership WellBoring West Africa dug a record number of wells across the Gambia and Heeno International, in partnership with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the Gambia Federation of the Disabled (GFD) trained in entrepreneurship and provided microfinance to hundreds of Gambians with disabilities/special needs. In addition, he administered direct assistance to persons in challenging situations throughout the country and in Ghana. Lamin’s strengths include project implementation and monitoring and human relations. He has a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from the Islamic University College, University of Ghana, Legon.
Mariama Sonko
Executive Assistant and Sustainability Advisor

Mariama Sonko is Executive Assistant and Sustainability Adviser at Jula Consultancy, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management Science from the Paris Sorbonne University (Abu Dhabi Campus) and an M.Sc. (with distinction) in Finance from Heriot-Watt University (Dubai Campus). She has postgraduate certificates in: the Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from the Judge Business School (University of Cambridge); Sustainable Finance from the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership; and Financial Leadership from the Harvard Business School. She is professionally certified as a Sustainability Adviser by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Academy. She is fully bilingual in English and French in addition to other African languages.
Rabeeya Ali
Public Relations Officer

Mr Rabeeya Ali studied at the Al Araby Al Afriky for Tourism Institute, Zakazeek, Egypt and finished in 2002.

He worked for five years in the tourism industry in Egypt’s most famous resorts: Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. He has 11 years of experience as Public Relations Officer and advisor to different companies on registration, visas and audit. Mr Ali speaks English and Arabic.

Ahmed Mohamedou
Consulting Manager and Supervisor

Mr. Ahmed Mohamedou is Consulting Manager and Supervisor of Jula.

He is a specialist in risk and stochastic finance and has worked for several banks in Europe and Africa: namely Fortis, Belgolaise and Generale de Banque de Mauritanie. He now heads his own businesses in North and West Africa: MCA (Mauritanienne pour le Conseil et l’Audit) (a partner of BDO International), Servisud, Speed’as, SMMCI (Societe Mauritano-Marocaine pour le Commerce International) and Global Trade. He has taught as a part-time lecturer at the University of Nouakchott, Mauritania. Mr. Mohamedou has a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (France), a Master’s degree in actuarial science from the Free University of Bruxelles (Belgium) and Master’s degree in Finance from Saint Luis University, Bruxelles. Ahmed is fluent in Arabic and French and moderate in English. Mr. Mohamedou is also Jula’s Resource person on banking and insurance in Arabic & French-speaking countries in Africa.
