Dr Michael Mah’moud

Dr Michael Mah’moud is a Financial Economist and Development Management Expert, who currently consults for various organizations including the African Development Bank (AfDB), United Nations, the African Capacity Building Foundation and other international organizations on various development management and finance matters. He is a retired staff of the African Development Bank, where he rose to become Lead Financial Economist and Acting Director, NEPAD and Regional Integration and Trade Department. Prior to joining AfDB, Dr. Mah’moud also worked at the Policy Analysis Support Unit of the Organization of African Unity (now African Union), as Monetary Policy Advisor (1995-1998). He was also for several years (1978-93) at the African Centre for Monetary Studies in Dakar, Senegal, where he occupied various functions, including Director of Training and Director of Research.

Dr. Mah’moud was also economist at the International Monetary Fund, where he worked on international finance issues of Middle Eastern and African countries. Dr. Mah’moud completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Ghana, Legon, and holds M. A. and Ph. D. (Economics) degrees from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He is the author of several publications and research pieces on monetary and financial management, financial integration and financial governance, as well as on various topics in development macroeconomic management. He speaks English and French.
